Call for Articles for the Seeds of Gold Magazine
The Division of Research and Extension is soliciting submission of articles for review and consideration for publication in the soon to be launched “Seeds of Gold Magazine”. The University in collaboration with the Nation Media Group is to help share your stories about how agricultural knowledge and innovation are helping to address major development challenges and make a real difference in the lives of the farmers’ community. The Seeds of Gold, will be a weekly publication in the Saturday Nation magazine. The objectives of the magazine are to describe technological advances in agriculture and convey news about important agricultural developments and describe the Universities or student activities and programs. Each issue will present practical information on efficient and responsible agricultural technologies, extension and outreach activities all in an easy-to-read format. Please submit manuscripts, in electronic format (email attachment) directly to the Division of Research and Extension at seedsofgold@egerton.ac.ke or call mwas @ 0728435400 or Marto @ 0725295437. Any questions may also be directed to the same in case of clarifications.

In your article, show how research and agricultural initiatives are transformed into practice using the following guidelines (the articles should be in prose and Jargon is, by and large, to be avoided):
1. Background – what was the drive behind the new development?
2. Description of how the new development works and how it is changing real lives.
3. Hurdles and challenges that were or will be overcome.
4. Comments and experiences of ‘developers’ and users.
5. Limitations/constraints/future challenges.
6. Responses from relevant/significant bodies if possible (e.g. partner organizations).
7. What next in terms of development? What lessons have been learnt/can be transferred elsewhere?
8. The articles should be enlivened and set for public audience.

Article length is less than 1000 words. Please note, longer article will not be considered.
Please send articles rather than research type papers. All articles received will be submitted to the Nations’ editor for their consideration and selection. Any published article will earn the author an appreciation token of Ksh.5000.
